Overview

The collection is a scholarly resource of photographs documenting the life of Austrian novelist Hermann Broch (1886–1951). There are smaller collections relating to other literary figures, such as Thomas Mann and Alice Raphael. The largest number of photographs, in the Hermann Broch Papers, are mostly unique to Yale and represent the largest collection documenting his life in Austria and during his exile in America.
