Photographic images document the objects in the collection or are comparative images used for research. Materials include 40,000 black-and-white prints; 1,400 negatives; 450 glass negatives; 15,000 slides and transparencies; 24 rolls of microfilm and microfiche; 4 stereo views; 1,076 postcards; 4 albums; films; video; DVDs; and digital images. Of the approximately 20,000 objects in the collection, three-quarters are documented with print photographs and 35mm slides. A few have 4-x-5 transparencies. The research photographs range from 8-x-10 and 5-x-7 photographs to microfilm and microfiche. The glass plates for the photographs of silver for the Old Silver of American Churches and of marks on New England silver are probably unique.
