Photographic holdings are archival records of past productions of the Yale Dramatic Association and are available to those involved with each production, including for personal collections and portfolios of directors and designers for future work. Images include stage shots of productions (photo call pictures, pictures taken during technical and dress rehearsals) and photographs taken at special events, both posed and candid. Images are printed or in electronic form on disk.
Holdings include images of scenery, lighting, costume designs, old production posters, and program graphics. There are also some records of photographs of productions in publications and older photographs of previous memberships and boards. These older records, housed in Sterling Memorial Library, include production photographs from 71 productions dating back to 1907. Thousands. There are production photographs since 1995 from each of seven shows per year (housed in the University Theater). These archives are among the only records of productions, both current and historical, and date back to 1899.
